Anxiety is the most common reason adults reach out for therapy, and one of the most responsive to it. The goal is not to never feel anxious again. It is to understand what sets the anxiety off, to have tools that bring it down when it rises, and to stop organizing your life around avoiding it.
Najla Sallum is a Florida Licensed Clinical Social Worker (SW19846) with more than 14 years of clinical practice. Sessions are available in person at the Boca Raton office or by secure video anywhere in Florida, in English, Português or Español.
What anxiety therapy can help with
- Chronic worry and racing thoughts
- Panic attacks and the fear of the next one
- Trouble sleeping because your mind will not settle
- Physical symptoms: tight chest, stomach trouble, restlessness
- Stress about work, family, money or immigration status
- Anxiety that started after a loss or a frightening event
How the work is done
Sessions draw on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), EMDR-informed and attachment-based approaches, chosen for you rather than applied by formula. In practice that means learning what your anxiety is responding to, practicing concrete skills to calm your body and your thinking, and gradually taking back the things anxiety has made you avoid.
You leave sessions with something to practice, not just something to think about.
When anxiety has roots
Sometimes anxiety is its own problem. Sometimes it sits on top of something else: an old trauma, a loss, the strain of building a life in a new country. When that is the case, the work makes room for it, at a pace you control. If trauma is at the center, see trauma therapy in Boca Raton.
